Nature Connectedness

πŸ“Location: High Ashurst, Headley Lane, Mickleham, Dorking, RH5 6DQ.

βŒ›Duration: 1 day (25th September 9.30am - 4.30pm)

🌳Moments not minutes:  How to add nature connectedness into your school day to improve children’s well-being. πŸ₯¬

Encouraging children to connect with nature is so much more than just being outside. It is how they think, feel and interact with the natural environment around them that can bring the benefits to their emotional well-being and physical development. As teachers and outdoor leaders, we can be instrumental in helping young people to build a relationship with nature which, much like that of a friend, we hope lasts a lifetime. It means we need to find new ways to integrate nature connectedness into an already busy school day.

During this workshop, we will develop skills and learn new activities to support people to connect with nature, support positive behaviours and reduce anxiety. Building your confidence to help young people and colleagues will enable them to feel calmer, more curious and more creative.

Whether you have a plant pot on a windowsill or acres of forest, we have new ideas to help you create experiences that help young people get real value from spending time in nature. Using the University of Derby’s, Five Pathways to Nature Connectedness, explore how nature connectedness is a valuable part of the National Curriculum.
